The Stat Pack was born in November 2013 when wealth management advisor Mike PeQueen and economist John Restrepo decided to create a monthly newsletter consisting of concise, data-driven information and analysis on the Southern Nevada economy. Each month, The Stat Pack featured stats, maps and graphs on a wide variety of economic indicators including employment, visitor volume, room and gaming revenue, taxable sales, and the housing, industrial and retail markets. From real estate to jobs, energy policy to the tax environment, John and Mike put all the numbers in context so decision-makers could see the micro and macro, alike.

Readership quickly grew from a few hundred to a few thousand and, over time, new types of data and content were added. Then, in October 2014, The Stat Pack became a website — and thanks to a happy collaboration with the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada and the Center for Regional Studies at UNR, the new site featured data and dialogue about the Southern and Northern Nevada economies. In addition, site began including links and information on the U.S. economy and items of national impact.

Today, The Stat Pack is a one-stop-shop for the Nevada and national economies, and at the end of each week, readers can also receive Fact Pack, a pithy email newsletter highlighting that week’s most interesting data, infographics, analyses and links, along with a peek at what’s on the economic horizon.
